Welcome

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Tennessee Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance website.  I would encourage you to come back to the website often as well as join us on Facebook (Tennessee Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance).  Being a member of this organization provides networking, professional support, and professional development opportunities to enhance promotion and mission in our everyday lives.

This year's theme is "Let's Move Forward" and the TAHPERD board is comprised of great caring profesisonals who have dedicated their time and expertise to help TAHPERD to move forward.  We have a strong leadership team and are always looking for others to help build a better organization.  If you would like to serve in any capacity (committee, division leader, Vice President, or President) please feel free to contact me (Katherine.pebworth@LMUnet.edu), we are looking for you to join us.

At the convention I put forth a challenge to everyone taken from the book: 212 degrees The Extra Degree by Sam Parker and Mac Anderson.  It says "At 211 degrees, water is hot.  At 212 degrees, it boils.  And with boiling water comes steam.  And steam can power a locomotive.  That one extra degree...makes all the difference."  All it takes is that one extra degree from everyone to move us forward.  Take this philosophy in your job, in leadership, in your life and we can all move TAHPERD forward.

I hope you will consider this your personal invitation from me to start planning now to attend the annual convention at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Murfreesboro on October 28-30, 2012.  "Let's Move Forward" together and use this time to network, get new ideas, and be rejuvenated.
