The Phoenix Club of Nashville Continues to Support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee

Nashville, TN - July 9, 2009 - The Phoenix Club of Nashville presented a check to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee (BGCMT) for $55,000 at the BGCMT annual meeting in June. This generous donation was a collection of funds raised through the Phoenix Club’s numerous fundraisers and given as their annual endowment.

The Phoenix Club of Nashville, which started locally in 2000 in the same vision as the Phoenix Club of Memphis, is a non-profit organization that solely raises funds to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee. Signature fundraisers hosted by the Phoenix Club include:  holiday card sales, Taste of Nashville and the Equinox Ball, all of which are some of Nashville’s most prominent events. All proceeds generated are donated to BGCMT and directly impact the boys and girls participating in the Club programs.

“The Phoenix Club of Nashville is committed to assisting the Boys & Girls Club of Middle Tennessee with financial resources as well as through volunteering at the Clubs,” said Mike Stapp, president of the Phoenix Club. “In these difficult economic times, we realize that the Boys & Girls Clubs need our help more than ever, and we are ready to step up to that challenge next year and in years to come.”

In the past year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee have reached out to over 3,500 youth in Davidson and Williamson Counties. The five Clubs in the Middle Tennessee area provide a positive environment in which boys and girls ages six to 18 can go to learn how to be productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee will use the funds to continue to offer programs in education and career development, character and leadership development, health and life skills, the arts and sports, fitness and recreation. The Clubs also strive to help young kids succeed in school with study and tutoring programs. As a result of this effort, 100 percent of high school seniors enrolled in the Clubs have graduated from high school. None of this would be possible without the continued support for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee.
