Executive Director, Boys & Girls Clubs of Franklin/Williamson County
Denise Carothers joined Boys & Girls Clubs in 1996 as a volunteer with the Girl Scout troop of the Franklin/Williamson Co. Boys & Girls Club. After three years of volunteer service in 1999 she began working as the Club’s Learning Center Coordinator. Denise was promoted in April of 2000 to the full time position of program coordinator. In April 2003, she was promoted to the position of Executive Director after serving as the interim Executive Director.
In her current role, Denise oversees the operations of both the Boys & Girls Club of Franklin/Williamson County and the Fairview Boys & Girls Club. She is a member of both the Academy of Boys & Girls Clubs
Professionals and the Association of Boys & Girls Clubs Professionals. Among the awards she has received are the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Service to Youth Award, Race Unity Award from the Brentwood Baha’I Community, Honorary Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Rotary Club, Special Recognition from the Brentwood American Legion Post, Williamson County United Way’s John I Easley Award and numerous recognitions from Franklin Special School District.
A native of Franklin, Ms. Carothers is a graduate of Franklin High School and Tennessee State University, and holds a Masters degree in Education from Lipscomb University. She also has a Certificate in Fund Development from the Center of Non-Profit Management.
Single, Denise devotes time to a variety of local causes. She has served on the Pre-K Advisory Council for Franklin Special School District since 2005, is a member of the Franklin Rotary Club at Breakfast and has served as its Charity Committee Chair since 2007, is serving a two year term on the Freedom Intermediate School Advisory Council, is a member of the United Way Medius Circle and a Books from Birth Volunteer. She also enjoys exercise, reading, cooking, baking and cake decorating in her spare time.
