2010 Barn Bash Attracts Record Crowd

On April 9, the second annual Barn Bash was held at the Loveless Barn. The event honored and celebrated the Middle Tennessee Youth of the Year Denzel Caldwell and the Sydney F. Keeble Distinguished Service Award winner Scott Portis. WSMV’s Jonathan Martin served as Master of Ceremonies of this year’s event. We are very grateful to our event sponsors, attendees, auction donors, and the many volunteers that made this event a huge success. Thank you to the Phoenix Club of Nashville for hosting the After Party, featuring the Chris Weaver band. To view photos of the Barn Bash After Party, click HERE.

Sasha S.- The College Readiness Program has inspired me to get focused and get prepared for College.  It also broadened my thought process and increased my desire to want more for my life.

Asha A.- The College Readiness Program helps me to set goals and really apply them to everyday life as I prepare for life after high school.  I want to become a lawyer and being able to see what other schools have to offer helps me with my plan to be the best lawyer I can.

"How  This College Tour Has Affected Me"
This particular tour has affected me in a really good way. After the last college tour, I had my heart set out on going to Southern Illinois University. When we pulled up to Southern University, this feeling came over me and I just knew that I was going to love it. The longer we stayed the more information I learned and I was loving every minute of it. Being able to go and tour colleges all over the United States is one of the best opportunities that I’ve ever gotten a chance to experience. There are a lot of children my age that will never get a chance like this. It seems like every year gets better. It helps me see what colleges outside of Tennessee have to offer me. My two favorite colleges out of the whole tour were Southern University and Dillard University. Some reasons why I like these universities include the fact that they aren’t too big, and they have good education programs. Overall, this is something that I will never forget or take for granted.
