Forrest City UMC - Annual Picnic
09-30-2009
At the recent meeting of the Forrest City First United Methodist Women, Mary Harrison Clark told the story of her grandmother's wedding dress. Mattie Mann wore the dress in 1919 as the first bride to walk the aisle of the present day sanctuary when she became Mrs. B. Frank King. Clark and her mother, Mrs. Morris (Alice King) Harrison were also married in the sanctuary. The framed wedding dress will hang in the redecorated bride’s room.
Mrs. Fred “Tippe” McCollum was honored for her many years of serving as stew chairman. Cara McCollum presented a painting that she had done in honor of her grandmother. Members of the McCollum family related their memories of stew week.
