Copley elected to serve as delegate
12-27-2008Stephen Copley, director of the Justice for Our Neighbors program and an ordained elder in the Arkansas Conference, was elected to serve as a delegate to the General Assembly of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA and Church World Service representing the United Methodist Church. Elections were held during the 2008 General Assembly Nov. 11-13 in Denver. He will serve for the 2008-2012 quadrennium. The General Assembly meets annually and is comprised of member communions.
Copley was also elected to serve on the Ecumenical Networks Committee. The purpose of the committee is to help the National Council of Churches build relationships with and among current and emerging local, state, regional, national and global manifestations of the ecumenical movement and to establish and maintain active, on-going, multifaceted, collaborative networking processes.
