A Letter from Bishop Charles N. Crutchfield, July 15, 2009
Dear Colleagues,
We, as the Arkansas Conference, are embarking on an extraordinary journey to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” It has become clear that across the global United Methodist Church there is a renewed movement of the Spirit of God.
At the last session of the Annual Conference, I announced that a small group would be formed to create a process whereby we can “re-think and re-do” the way we do church in the Arkansas Annual Conference. The question is posed: How will we move into the future God is calling us to embrace? It is time for us to imagine and then actualize the ministry
and the future God is calling us to embrace.
As part of preparing us, our local churches, districts and Annual Conference for the journey that is ahead, you are invited to join with your brothers and sisters in an apostolate of prayer. This prayer guide over the next eight weeks will hopefully assist groups and individuals in the journey of discernment and prayer for God’s guidance in the days and months ahead. May our collective prayers form an amazing grace-filled foundation for the work that is before us.
Faithfully,
Bishop Charles N. Crutchfield
