Purpose

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Women's Division

The Women's Division is engaged in fulfilling the mission of Christ and the Church and shall interpret the purpose of United Methodist Women. With continuing awareness of the concerns and responsibilities of the Church in today's world, the Women's Division shall be an advocate for the oppressed and dispossessed with special attention to the needs of women and children; shall work to build a supportive community among women; and shall engage in activities that foster growth in the Christian faith, mission education, and Christian social involvement.

2011 School of Christian Mission - Winter Event

You are invited to register for and participate, on January 20-22, 2012, at Camp Reynoldswood in Dixon IL, in the Winter  School of Christian Mission.  This opportunity for all adults is presented by the NIC UMW.  Registration begins Friday, the 20th, at 4 PM.  The weekend concludes on Sunday, the 22nd, following lunch together.

Cost is:
   $115 for weekend students (linens are $7 additional, or bring your own)
 or
   $80 for students who commute to class each day (includes class and all meals)

Choose one Mission Study Class (each is 8 hours total). 
Available are:
   The Journey: Forgiveness, Restorative Justice and Reconciliation - Diana Facemyer
   Haiti: Challenges and Hope - Steve Good
   Joy to the World!: Mission in the Age of Global Christianity - Fernando Siaba

Currently Winter Event classes are available only in English.  Watch for the new summer school classes, if you need to have a class in another language (Spanish or Korean).

CEU credits (.8) are available, if you register with the Registrar and then report to the Dean or Assistant Dean before and after attending class, to take care of the necessary paperwork.

Voluntary Mission Project activity (during part of your free time):
Bring scissors and plastic bags to help make portable beds for homeless veterans
