Anne marie Gerhardt
We are pleased to announce the hiring of Anne Marie Gerhardt as our new Director of Communications, effective April 1, 2011.  Following a thorough interview process, the Northern Illinois Conference has selected Anne Marie to fill the vacancy left by Matt Kuzma in December.

Rev. Chris Pierson, Director of Connectional Ministries stated, “There were many gifted candidates from across the connection who applied for the position.  The search team concluded that Anne Marie’s rich and varied journalistic experience, familiarity with the United Methodist Church, and commitment to the mission of the Northern Illinois Conference would make her an excellent member of our staff.  We believe Anne Marie has the gifts and the passion to effectively tell the story of the conference, its churches, and members”.

The process included phone screenings, interviews with top candidates and a final interview with the Bishop for the selected candidate.

Anne Marie has served as the Director of Communications for Kingswood United Methodist Church in Buffalo Grove, IL since 2007. She successfully implemented new communication tools including social media, audio and video formats as well as increased news coverage of Kingswood in print, TV and online.

She holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Iowa and has worked as a television news reporter and anchor for NBC stations in Florida and Illinois as well as CLTV in Chicago. She also worked as a producer for the Total Living Network garnering two Emmy nominations for outstanding programming.  Most recently, Anne Marie has been a freelance reporter for Patch.com providing numerous stories/photos/videos for several Chicago suburban communities.

Anne Marie is an active member of Kingswood UMC and grew up in the Methodist Church attending First United Methodist Church in Northbrook, IL from a child through her adult years.

Bishop Jung noted the important role of communications as essential to creating and maintaining a healthy environment in the Northern Illinois Conference. “Anne Marie comes to the position of Director of Communications with an impressive background in journalism and media.  I know that her skills and experience will be a benefit to our conference as we continue to build God’s Kingdom.”

Anne Marie will report directly to Rev. Pierson but will work closely with all teams in the administrative, district and program areas of the conference.
