AC 2010 Day 2 Gil Rendle

06-14-2010
Rev. Gil Rendle, Texas Methodist Foundation
Progress Toward Bearing Fruit in the Wilderness

5:22 p.m. - "Be willing to lead, not knowing if it will work."

5:07 p.m. - Deep change means that some/many people will not be happy.

4:59 p.m. - We have enough resources to accomplish our mission, but we don't have enough to keep doing what we've always done.

4:55 p.m. - "We're not in a congregation to be pleasant, we're there to be changed."

4:45 p.m. - "You thought organizational change was hard, deep cultural change is even harder."

4:39 p.m. - The new paradigm we face: Churches and clergy are no longer the result of our process, they are the input - the resources that we use for a greater purpose.

4:29 p.m. - Many of our congregations do not know what they produce.

4:25 p.m. - Deep change happens in the wilderness.

4:21 p.m. - "The change we are facing is generationally deep."

4:16 p.m. - "The work you're doing is part of a larger conversation, about a church that wants to be a movement, a church that wants to see something it hasn't seen in the past."
