Harvest 2020 | Healthy Discipleship
Healthy Discipleship – S.E.E.D.
What does it mean to be a healthy church? How we can be sure that our existing churches are set up for successful ministry in their neighborhoods, towns and cities? Our conference staff and resources are focused on four components of healthy discipleship, based on the Natural Church Development model:SEEK
- Intentional Invitation: Encouraging our churches to reach out to their communities and invite others to “come and see” what God is doing.
- Exciting Worship: Healthy churches are characterized by a spirit of joy expressed in worship and regular celebration of the Lord’s Supper.
ENGAGE
- Christian Formation: We are committed to a proclamation and teaching of God’s Word that is clear, theologically sound, Wesleyan and communicated in a practical and relevant way.
- Passionate spirituality: We recognize that it is only the presence and power of the Holy Spirit that enables us to live authentic, transformed lives in Jesus Christ.
EQUIP
- Leadership Empowerment: We are committed to intentional leadership development and the exercise of leadership gifts.
- Abundant and Holistic Stewardship: Healthy congregations demonstrate faithful stewardship and investment of the resources which God has entrusted to them.
- Small Group Ministry: Intentional disciple-making systems promote the spiritual growth of its members, moving them from new life in Christ to the exercise of spiritual disciples and service in ministry.
DEPLOY
- Fruitful Evangelism: The budgets, programs and leadersof our local churches must reflect a high commitment to deployresources to outreach and evangelism, both locally and globally.
- Radical Hospitality: Our congregations must live out radical, biblical hospitality in service and welcome to others.
