Global Ministries

In the United Methodist Church, Global Ministries is not about mere programs, projects or training sessions. Whether in relief work, church construction, or community-health programs, we believe that quite ordinary men and women are transformed into a holy community – a church that is a sign of God's presence as we pursue God's mission.

In the Northern Illinois Conference, our local churches make a commitment to support local, regional and international mission projects and ministries through the Rainbow Covenant.

NIC Disaster Response Team

Weoften believe disasters are something we respond to in other areas ofour country or the world. But Northern Illinois has also experienceddisasters such as tornadoes and flooding, fires and ice storms whichhave brought upset and destruction here at home. The earthquake inHaiti seemed far from our doorstep until our own earth shook with aminor quake. Being prepared is not just about going elsewhere; it'sabout being safe and ready to respond where we live. Working closely with Volunteers in Mission, we hope to serve our conference needs as well as making ourbroader response more efficient and effective.

We are also affiliated with the North Central Jurisdiction Volunteers in Mission.
